SPECIAL NEEDS
TRANSPORTATION

At Community Bus Services we believe that all children should have a safe bus ride to school, regardless of disability. We have a specialized fleet of vehicles that make transportation available to children of all abilities. Our buses can be equipped with adaptive seating to provide each child with the safest ride possible. Special needs routes also have a School Bus Attendant specially trained to care for the students.

All CBS Associates are trained to transport special needs students, beginning on their first day of employment. Whether students are mainstreamed on the bus with their regular ed. peers, or whether they ride a special school bus, our transportation staff have the knowledge and ability to transport every student safely.

Also, an Individualized Transportation Plan can be developed to specifically tailor transportation to each child’s needs. This includes the administration of emergency medication if a student has a life-threatening illness, like epilepsy or diabetes.

CBS School Bus Drivers & Bus Attendants have received training in the 13 disability categories outlined by the IDEA.

"If every child matters, every child has the right to a good start in life. If every child matters, every child has the right to be included. And that is so important for people with special needs."
